Summer blooms make amazing arrangements--their bright colors and interesting textures and shapes are exciting to work with, and, the sky is the limit when putting one together; you could arrange one every week through the summer and no two would be alike. I like collecting vases--sometimes a trip to the thrift store nets some great vases. Always use a floral preservative, cut your blooms early in the morning before the sun comes out, and plunge blooms immediately into tepid water. If possible, let sit overnight in a dark, cool place, then arrange in the morning, re-cutting the stems by an inch under water, at an angle. A copper penny dropped in the bottom of the vase also helps to prolong the life of the blooms.
