TIME FOR BIG-LEAF HOSTA TO BLOOM

One of my very favorite perennials is blooming right now in the garden beds.  It's HOSTA, the big-leafed wonder plant--good for any shady spot, does well under trees with big roots, loving to be root-bound, so you can grow it where other plants fail to thrive, and a big bonus--they even have fragrant blooms of white or pale lavender this time of year.  There are literally hundreds of hosta cultivars--ranging in color, size, and texture of leaves.  I have an upper bed that has about 25 or so different ones--from light green, blue, variegated, smooth or corrugated leaves,  each one different in their own wonderful way.  I love the fragrant blooms of white, or light purple, that keep well in arrangements,  If you haven't experimented with hosta, I highly recommend them for the easy growing, low maintenance plant that it is.
