The ZINNIAS are finally starting to bloom. They will continue to bloom through the season and into fall. STATE FAIR is the variety I have. They are tall--up to 30 inches--and bear flowers that differ in petal numbers and interesting centers. STATE FAIR has a mixture of colors--bright, vibrant ones, including fuchsia, red, red-orange, orange, orange-yellow, yellow, golden, light pink, dark pink, and coral. They resemble dahlias, but are much easier to grow, and are not picky of the soil, as long as it is kept moist, but not wet. They are especially nice in floral arrangements, and their vase life is long. I think every garden needs some of these tall beauties. The one drawback is that they are ANNUALS, not perennials. But, save your seed, and replant in the spring--well worth the time and effort for these vibrant beauties!
