THE LAST DAY LILY TO BLOOM, THE 2nd FLUSH OF GLADS, and DRIED PODS ADD INTEREST TO THE GARDEN

Well, the last daylily plant has just started to bloom, with only about 5 still in bloom. The second flush of glads have started to bloom, with more on the way since I planted several groups two weeks apart.  There are a few roses blooming, but I see lots of little green buds that will bloom--probably in a few weeks.  One of my favorite things in the gardens right now is the attractive dried allium and clematis seed pods; they add much interest to the beds. The white hydrangea, "Pinky Winky," will soon start to change colors--it 's long panicles will turn a beautiful pink, starting at the bottom, then gradually work its way up the bloom.  The last of the lilies are out, and before long, their beautiful blooms will be a thing of the past--until next year.  I've ordered some new lilies to plant this fall, as well as lots of daffodil bulbs.  I've also been trying to find a good deal on some more crown imperial, which can be quite pricey.  September promises to be more colorful, with dahlias, mums, more roses and glads.  However, I am enjoying the lush patio plants and dark green grass knowing the flower beds will liven up in September.
