HARVESTING FLOWERS BEFORE A HARD FREEZE - HALLOWEEN ARRANGEMENTS


Before we had our hard freeze and 4-5 inches of snow last Thursday, I harvested the fall blooms--dahlias, roses, mums and zinnias.  Cut early in the morning or late at night, with cut on a diagonalRemove all leaves, and plunge in tepid water with floral preservative added.  Keep in a dark, cool, almost cold, area.  When ready to arrange, re-cut the stem, and arrange in new water, with floral preservative added.
