SUMMER TIME MEANS GLADS, ZINNIAS and LILIES

The first gladiola of the season have started blooming.  The Zinnias and Daisies continue their blooms, and the Oriental Lilies are also beginning to bloom.   The roses are beginning new buds for their 2nd flush of blooms and the Asiatic lilies are on their way out.  The Day Lilies are in full bloom now, but, since their bloom only lasts a day, I can't use them in floral arrangements.  To look their best, deadhead your day lilies daily.  When dead heading Orientals and Asiatic lilies, keep as much of the stem with their leaves as possible--this is what feeds your lily bulbs for next year's blooms.
