FOR MAXIMUM BLOOMS IN THE SPRING, FERTILIZE EARLY WITH 0-45-0 Super Triple Phosphate

Plants get a great start with an early application of Triple Super Phosphate, 0-45-0.  Phosphate, the middle number, gives your perennials great seed development and vigorous roots and tubers.  I usually sprinkle a generous amount over all the beds in early March, after the snow has melted and the beds are cleaned up somewhat--before there's any top growth on my perennials and bulbs (this makes it so you won't have to worry about the phosphate burning or marring the foliage in any way).  I repeat the application in the fall.
