OMELETS MADE EASY THE ZIPLOCK WAY - CLEAN, QUICK AND EASY!

Our family has enjoyed this innovative way to fix a fast breakfast It works great!!  It's good for when the whole family is together, and the best part is that no one has to clean up.   Another added bonus is that all the omelets can be ready at the same time!  Just have everyone write their name on their individual baggie with a permanent marker, plop them in a big pot of boiling water and wait 13 minutes, and presto--you have perfectly cooked omelets for everyone!  A great idea for when you go camping, Christmas morning, Easter morning, family brunches, or any day you are all together!

ZIPLOC OMELETS--THE QUICK AND EASY WAY
  • 1 quart ZIPLOC baggie for each person
  • Permanent sharpie to write names on the bags
  • 1 or 2 large or extra large eggs for each person
  • Various Omelet fillings: Ham, Bacon, Tomato, Onion, Mushrooms, Green or Red Pepper, Salsa, Hash Browns, Cheeses, Green Onion,  Olives, etc.
  • 1-2 Tablespoons milk for each bag
  • Seasonings:  salt, pepper, season all, etc.
  • Large pot of boiling water
Have each person crack their egg(s) in their baggie.  Add milk and seal.   "Squish" baggie until egg is well blended with the milk.  Add desired ingredients (my favorites are mushrooms, onion, ham and cheese).  Season as desired.  When all ingredients are in the baggie, seal, making sure it is completely sealed.  Have each person write their name up at the very top of the baggie by the seal.  When all baggies are ready, place baggies in a big pot of rolling boiling water.  Boil for 13 minutes.  You can cook 6-8 omelets in a large pot.  If you need more, just have 2 pots going.  When done, open baggies and the omelet will roll out easily.  Be prepared for everyone to be amazed.  It's nice to serve these with fresh fruit and homemade cinnamon rolls.  The kids especially love this--even little ones can make their own omelet.  Everyone is involved, eats at the same time, and no one cleans up!
