GOOD AND HEARTY BAKED BEANS

A good friend shared her recipe for BAKED BEANS with me several years ago.  They are hearty, sweet, and good!  One of the things I love best about them is that they are not GREASY or RUNNY (two things I don't like in baked beans).  My husband likes them best when I add a can of drained chunk pineapple to them the last half hour of baking.  With or without the pineapple, they are always requested by family, and our favorite baked bean recipe, for sure!

HEARTY BAKED BEANS (JoAnn)
4 cans pork and beans
1 lb. bacon
1 large onion, diced
2 Tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 green pepper, diced
14 oz. ketsup
1 cup brown sugar
1 can chunk pineapple, drained, optional
Add all ingredients except the pineapple chunks, in a large, oven-proof dish or roaster pan.  Bake, covered, at 350 degrees for 1 hour.  Uncover, stir; turn down heat to 300 degrees and bake for 1 hour longer.  Add pineapple chunks and bake for 1/2 more hour.
