LILIES, DAISIES, ECHINACEA AND ROSES

OT (Oriental Trumpet) Lily HOLLAND BEAUTY, with its huge fragrant flowers and heavy petal texture, which gives it a long-lasting bloom in the garden, is now blooming in the garden.  These 4-5 foot tall lilies have dark green foliage, and is the first of the "Black Beauty" hybrids from Holland. It's one of my favorites. It has been reliable and very vigorous. In this week's arrangements, I've arranged it with bright canary yellow LA hybrid (Easter lily and Asiatic hybrid)  EASTER BONNET, White, yellow throated ORTEGA OT lily, miniature coral baby roses, coral/pink ECHINACEA and light creamy yellow dwarf  daisies.  Oriental lilies should be cut with as little of the stem cut as possible. For this reason, I use a styrofoam wet plant brick in my container, filled with floral preservative-water.  Lilies are an excellent choice for use in floral arrangements. They last well over a week, and their blooms are very fragrant. Echinacea and daisies perform well, too.
